Anne Vinicombe-Taylor

Anne has over 25 years of experience working in Childcare and Education.

She completed The Certificate of Therapeutic Mentoring in 2017 and has successfully formed a therapeutic space for the children in the school she works in, giving them safety and stability and is guided by the Clinical Plans devised by the Play Therapist from BdT.

Debbie Willett

Debbie Willett currently works as a child protection trainer for a local authority social work learning and development team. Previously, she has worked with children and families for more than 30 years in various capacities such as early years, family support, therapeutic play, youthwork and child protection and management. As a college and university lecturer for many years, she is herself, educated to masters level in children’s play and the therapeutic aspects of play for children in relation to neuroscience.

Dr. Laura Wood

Laura Carolyn Wood BM MA MRCPCH

 

Forensic Paediatrician (Sexual Offences Examiner) with special interest in human trafficking and exploitation. Child & Adolescent Health Director, VITA Foundation (UK). Churchill Fellow researcher on child trafficking prevention. 

 

As a forensic paediatrician, Laura works closely with police and social services to provide detailed medical assessment and collection of forensic evidence for children aged 0 - 17 years after disclosure, or significant concern about sexual assault. She has worked in one of the busiest Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) in the UK, caring for children with a wide range of concerning and complex life experiences, including sexual assault and abuse in the context of human trafficking. She prepares medical reports and Witness Statements for use in court.

 

Laura's work with VITA Foundation (UK), a clinician-led charity that aims to equip health professionals and health systems to respond skilfully to human trafficking includes research, advisory,  advocacy and training work in the UK and internationally.  As a funded Churchill Fellow, in the past year she has been to Indonesia, The Netherlands and Austria researching child trafficking prevention with frontline experts. She has publications in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Paediatrics Open on child health, trafficking, and immigration and has been a clinical contributor or advisor for several national and international policy and practice guidelines.  She teaches widely on human trafficking, childhood trauma and recovery (based on the Trauma Recovery Focused Model (TRFMÒ) by Betsy de Thierry), and looking after ourselves when we work closely with fellow humans in distress. Her experiences particularly complement the learning needs of healthcare, police, social services and anti-trafficking professionals.

Lynn Millar

Lynn is an experienced social worker and trainer with over 35 years’ experience.

Lynn’s journey includes:

· Supporting children with disabilities and complex needs

· Senior practitioner roles in youth services, group work, outdoor adventure programs, and youth offending teams

· Specialist roles in Through Care and Fostering & Adoption

· Children’s Rights Officer advocating for care-experienced young people

· Leadership as Kaizen Service Manager, Manager of a Youth Services Team, and Manager of a Children’s Wellbeing Team

Lynn’s impact extends globally. She has:

· Supported young people with disabilities in America

· Managed a social work team in Ukraine supporting the transition of children from Ukrainian orphanages into family-based care

· As a Youth Services Manager within a therapeutic community in New Zealand, grounded in strength-based approaches.

Lynn holds a degree in Social Work and postgraduate diplomas in Practice Teaching and Child Protection & Welfare. She is a qualified NLP and Coaching Mentor. Lynn has completed training with BdT Trauma Recovery Training and Consultancy, directly facilitated by Betsy De Thierry. She has followed the training pathways, including an introduction to trauma and completing the Therapeutic Mentoring Course along with advanced training in complex trauma. Lynn actively contributes to trauma-informed workgroups and facilitates training and workshops within her organization. She is a Trauma & Promise Champion and proudly serves on the Scottish Government Advisory Board for the National Trauma Transformation Program.

Lynn believes that training should be interactive, fun, and engaging. She co-founded Curiously Creative, an initiative that offers interactive training, resources, and tools to help professionals connect with children in meaningful and enjoyable ways.

She also brings deep compassion to her work as a Co-ordinator and founding board member, and long-time volunteer with Archie Bereavement Services (formerly Grampian Child Bereavement Network), where she has supported countless children through loss and grief

 

Gillian Bowie

Gillian is a certified British Association of Play Therapist (BAPT) Child Centred Play Therapist working across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in the North-East of Scotland. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Psychology and a MSc in Play Therapy and predominately works with children and young people from pre-school age to seventeen years of age and their families.

Debbie Willett

Debbie Willett currently works as a child protection trainer for a local authority social work learning and development team. Debbie has supported many children and practitioners to understand the therapeutic approach to play for children and young people who are living with trauma. She has also trained many practitioners across multi agencies to see the impact of play. In completing the Certificate of Therapeutic Mentoring in 2024, Debbie extended her knowledge and passion as a trainer and practitioner, to spread the message of trauma awareness and recovery through the approaches Betsy de Thierry has developed.

Esther Burton

Esther Burton is the Director of Dragonfly Education Consultancy Ltd., a qualified Primary Teacher with over 20 years of experience in education, and an accomplished trainer for audiences ranging from small groups to Keynotes at conferences. She specialises in  nurture and child protection, providing training, support, and therapeutic mentoring for children facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, with a strong emphasis on recovery. As a Circuit Safeguarding Officer, she also delivers safeguarding training. Esther brings extensive experience in safeguarding, nurture, and training within mainstream and alternative provisions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to foster the holistic development of children. 

Sarah Musselwhite

Sarah Musselwhite has over 20 years of experience working across the Health and Social Care sector, which has focused on improving communication and understanding through training, whether that be between individuals, individuals and professionals or systems. From working with those throughout their lifespan — from children with additional physical, social and emotional needs; young people and adults living with mental health; supporting vulnerable witnesses through the court system and MacMillan volunteers providing emotional and practical support; to families and older adults living with dementia. Drawing on her professional experience and lived understanding of trauma, Sarah has developed a deep passion for understanding trauma recovery and the ways in which it can be supported and facilitated. She is particularly skilled at creating spaces for healing, drawing on her work as a therapist, and supporting the development of trauma-informed approaches in various settings. Previously, a Communication Champion, she has delivered training to professionals and volunteers on trauma-informed communication, boundary-setting, and supporting those dealing with trauma fatigue. Her approach to training is warm, collaborative, and focused on providing knowledge for creating compassionate, trauma-sensitive environments and skills for both individuals and organisations.

Sarah is currently a PTUK and MBACP registered psychotherapist offering therapies such as Play Therapy and Integrative Counselling sessions to children and young people.

Anne Vinicombe-Taylor

Anne completed the Advance Training in Complex Trauma in 2025 and is excited to share knowledge and her experience to Education Staff to enable children to have hope and begin their road of recovering from Trauma.

Rosy Corbin

Rosy has over 20 years of experience working with children and families, beginning her career as a Social Worker in Somerset after earning a BSc (Hons) in Social Work and Applied Social Studies from the University of Bath. Her professional journey has taken her across the UK, Australia, and now Guernsey, where she continues to build on her extensive experience and training.

Rosy holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy from Leeds Beckett University and a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Bath Spa University. She has specialised in therapeutic work with children, young people, and their families—combining clinical expertise with a deep commitment to trauma-recovery-focused care. Training with Trauma Recovery Global and Betsy de Thierry has further equipped her to work with children and young people from a place of hope, supporting them as they navigate their recovery journeys.

Throughout her career, Rosy has worked in both frontline Social Work teams and specialised therapeutic services focused on the healing and recovery of children, young people, and their parents or carers. She is currently the Clinical Lead at the Trauma Recovery Centre in Guernsey, where she continues to advocate for and support the emotional wellbeing of those affected by trauma.

Outside of work, Rosy enjoys reading, running, and spending time at the beach—ideally in the water—making the most of Guernsey’s stunning coastal surroundings.
